This commemorative £5 Crown-sized coin marks the 350th anniversary of the restoration of the British monarchy in 1660.

The Restoration of the Stuart monarchy in the kingdoms of England, Scotlandand Ireland took place in 1660 when King Charles II returned from exile in Europe. The preceding period of the Protectorate and the civil wars, came to be known as the Interregnum (1649 - 1660).

The obverse shows the crowned mature head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right (her effigy known as the "Fourth Portrait"). The Queen wears the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland" diamond tiara, a wedding gift from Queen Mary (Her Majesty's grandmother) in 1947 - which she also has on the Machin and the Gottwald portraits.

In small letters below the head, the artist's initials IRB (for Ian Rank-Broadley).

Around the effigy is the monarch's legend and the date: ELIZABETH · II · D · G REG · F · D · 2010. Translated from Latin: Elizabeth the Second, by the grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith 2010.

The reverse depicts a crown, the symbol of monarchy, separated by date 1660 from twin sprigs of oak leaves, English roses and Scottish thistle bound below by a ribbon.

Above the ribbon, the royal monogram of King Charles II familiar from his coinage, two interlinked letters C (one of them reversed).

Around above, the inscription RESTORATION OF THE MONARCHY; around below, the value and denomination FIVE POUNDS.
