The obverse legend reads '+ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA BRITT:OMN:REGINA' (note: 1953 is the only year without "BRITT:OMN" on some, but the coronation sets generally feature this early, longer legend). The reverse displays a crowned shield flanked by 'E' and 'R', with 'FID DEF' above and 'HALF CROWN' below.
